As a Senior Design Technologist on the Rich Media Experiences team, you’re the expert in prototyping and will bridge the gap between design, engineering, and applied science. You’ll work intimately with a small innovative design team to rapidly build new concepts, test customer behavior, and develop tools to accelerate learning. As a technology generalist, you will help translate future engineering capabilities into engaging customer experiences and drive strategic design decisions. By leveraging the latest technology, you’ll empower customers with new ways to evaluate homes effortlessly online and in person. You’ll explore how to bring more delight and authenticity to an emotional part of their journey as part of our mission to make Zillow the most-loved place to discover, buy, sell, or rent a home.
Prototype digital experiences for web, iOS, Android, and operator platforms
Work closely with designers and researchers to rapidly build experiments that improve Zillow customer experiences
Work closely with engineering and applied science to leverage live data sources, emerging AI models, and instrumentation in design explorations
Present design work and regularly engage with partners for feedback
Advocate for customer needs throughout the design process
Lead projects independently and deliver high-quality work on time
Contribute, learn, grow, and have fun
This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any of the 50 US States, with limited exceptions. In certain cases, an employee in a remote-designated job may need to live in a specific region or time zone to support customers or clients as part of their role.
In Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City the standard base pay range for this role is $133,200.00 – $212,800.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City and may not be applicable to other locations.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.
Strong communication and collaboration skills
5–7 years of hybrid experience as both a designer and developer
Deep experience working in frontend web technologies (HTML, CSS, React/TS).
Working experience in native mobile (iOS/Android) and/or mobile frameworks (Swift, Flutter, etc.)
Experience with Agile development methodologies and related software and tools to keep organized
Experience working reliably with diverse, cross-functional teams
Examples of high-quality prototype work in a design portfolio
Examples of critical thinking, creativity, and risk-taking in design projects
Experience making effective decisions and managing design project work
Experience with Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar design and prototyping tools
