POSITION SUMMARY:
The YMCA of South Hampton Roads is seeking a creative and thoughtful designer to ensure the Y’s marketing efforts are on-brand, effective and visually beautiful. The brand designer understands the integrated marketing communication practices and is a skilled designer with a passion for using creative content to tell a compelling story. The Brand Designer serves as the primary in-house graphic designer creating a diverse range of high-quality visual content within the YMCA brand standards for print and digital media. This position works cross-functionally with internal teams to complete project tasks and liaise with outside partners to bring our projects to life.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Creative Development
- Graphic design for all organizational needs
- Design and develop marketing assets in support of the annual marketing campaign
- Align with brand standards while balancing needs for annual marketing plan and understanding competitive environment
- Create templates for front line directors to use in areas of need, manage updates of templates and communication to staff
2. Asset Management
- Partner with teammates to manage design files, photography and video assets
- Create/monitor asset management system for ease of use
- Manage asset licenses, as needed
- Assists with other duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma required, technical or Associate’s Degree in a related field preferred
- Certifications such as CompTia A+, Network+ or Microsoft MCP are preferred but not required
- Excellent technical knowledge of current desktop components including internal PC components, network protocols, operating systems and software
- Experience administering Google Workspace and Active Directory
- Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience
- Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories
- Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides
- Ability to conduct research into PC issues and products as required
- Must be available for emergency support as needed
- Ability to quickly learn and utilize YMCA proprietary software
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to intelligently communicate with members, co-workers, directors and volunteers in a positive and professional manner
- Must be organized and able to focus on details and accuracy
- Must have valid driver’s license
- Must be able to travel to family centers and special events as needed
- Must be able to work flexible hours as needed for special events and heavy workload periods

- Walk, run, stand, climb, kneel, sit on floor and get back up and stoop
- Continuous operations requiring attention to detail and multi-tasking
- May be required to lift and pull up to 50 pounds
- Stand or sit for long periods of time
- Successfully complete required certifications

Accountable for completion of assigned goals as measured by the accuracy of work and
timeliness with meeting deadlines.
