Plans, maintains, and assists with recovery of the assigned database system within the framework of program priorities and established organizational goals
Performs administration of database accounts according to organizational policies and guidelines
Documents, monitors, and administers backup systems and performs recovery procedures when required
Prepares database documentation in accordance with Reclamation and Regional standards
Develops and maintains guidance for use of database
Develops and uses specialized evaluation techniques to monitor database performance, as well as the overall decision support system performance
Ensures the security requirements are integrated and/or executed in a way that will result in an acceptable level of risk as documented in the system/s security plan
Monitors vendor information sources for upgrades and patches
Performs technical Software Development duties such as: planning, implementing, programming, installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of information technology system components in support of the database management system
Occasional travel – You may be expected to travel approximately 10% of the time for this position.

To qualify at the GS-11, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-09 level in federal service having demonstrated experience:
Analyzing system software requirements, prepares related reports
Managing and administering a database system, or to assist in managing a highly complex relational database system
Monitoring systems performance and troubleshooting problems
Implementing standard operating system patches and upgrades for a relational database (e.g., Oracle, MS SQL Server)
Resolving routine problems and documenting technical procedures for relational database system users
Developing and producing standard system products (e.g., reports) using Structured Query Language (SQL) or Program Language/Structured Query Language (PL/SQL)
You could otherwise qualify for the GS-11 on the basis of Education having a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with major study in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management. You may combine specialized experience and education to meet the minimum qualifications.
To qualify at the GS-12, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-11 level in federal service having demonstrated experience:
Analyzing new and established functional requirements to develop database management system software requirements
Managing and administering a highly complex relational database system
Monitoring systems performance and troubleshooting problems
Implementing standard operating system patches and upgrades for a relational database (e.g., Oracle, MS SQL Server)
Resolving complex problems and documenting technical procedures for relational database system users
Developing and producing standard system products (e.g., reports) using SQL or PL/SQL. [Software development (programming)]
Providing training and consultation relating to database management systems
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-In-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). Applicants eligible under the Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA) are not required to meet time-in-grade restrictions in order to be considered.
