Process Police Reports
Processes incoming and outgoing police reports in an efficient and timely manner in accordance with unit procedures. Attention to detail and following established laws and guidelines is a must.
Highly detailed data entry.
Review of data for accuracy.
Review of data for statistical purposes.
Attach necessary documents.
Copy and distribute reports in accordance with department, campus, and state laws and guidelines.
File reports accurately
Assist with annual case relocation and purge.
Customer Service (Public Counter and Telephones)
Provide assistance and answer questions for members of the University community and the general public who contact the police department for both routine and emergency services.
Set priorities for action
Gather the necessary information for the Public Safety Dispatchers and Police Officers to ensure requests for service can be handled efficiently.
Direct customers to the appropriate person/agency for further assistance.
Handle multiple telephone lines at the same time.
Take accurate messages.
Take minor police reports as directed.
Duties constantly change to meet department needs. Must be flexible and willing to adjust schedule to meet those needs. May be required to assist with processing prisoners including, fingerprinting, taking pictures. Take Applicant fingerprints and process necessary paperwork. Handle incoming cash and receipts. Assist the Records Supervisor in generating reports and projects as required.
Assist police officers in the processing of prisoners, including fingerprinting, taking pictures, prisoner property.
Electronically fingerprint applicants for the campus community and the general public.
Receive payments, issue receipts and assist Records Supervisor in the balancing of accounts.
Assist in the training of department personnel in the use of the Records Units various systems and processes.
Assist Records Supervisor in the gathering and reviewing of data for various reports and projects as directed.
May be required to work on a Booking Team when arrests are made during civil disturbances.
May be required to work overtime, nights, holidays and weekends.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Must already possess or have the ability to learn and perform necessary tasks as required in the following automated systems including but not limited to:
Records Management System (RMS)
Computer Aided Dispatch System (CADS)
Automate Warrant System (AWS)
Criminal Offender Records Production Unified System (CORPUS)
California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS)
National Crime Information Center (NCIC)
High School Diploma or equivalent experience

Salary & Benefits
