The Seeing Eye, Inc., the oldest existing guide dog school in the world, is seeking an experienced individual for the part-time position of Data Entry/Coding Clerk in our Veterinary Medicine & Genetics department.

For 93 years, The Seeing Eye has enhanced the independence, dignity, and self-confidence of people who are blind through the use of Seeing Eye® dogs. From its picturesque main campus just outside Morristown, NJ, and a nearby state-of-the-art breeding station, The Seeing Eye’s 160-member staff serves an average of 260 people who are blind and visually impaired annually, providing training with specially bred Seeing Eye dogs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Oversee medical record review for Adoptable and Boarding dogs.
• Ensure all tests, treatment and vaccines are complete and up-to-date.
• Write Health Summaries, prepare certificates and request medications as needed.
• Collaborate with the Adoptions team to provide necessary documents in time for the adoption appointment.
• Enters Lab results, veterinary comments, procedures (surgeries, radiographs, physical exams, etc.) into The Seeing Eye database.
• Answer internal and external telephone calls for department and dispatch calls as necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred with three years veterinary related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in a veterinary facility or equivalent experience resulting in knowledge of veterinary terminology.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

• Proficiency with various software programs including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Good working knowledge of general office practices and business etiquette.
• Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines while providing consistent and professional service.
• Ability to perform duties with efficiency and accuracy without immediate and constant supervision.
• Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Possess good organizational skills including attention to detail and follow through.
• Maintain complete confidentiality, possess a professional demeanor, and exercise discretion at all times.
• Ability to work additional as needed.

A flexible schedule is available for this 20 hour per week position. Individual can work 4 days x 5 hours each day or 5 days x 4 hours each day. Hours worked are flexible as long as they are between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays.
