Job Description

As part of plant engineering team, the Senior Automation Engineer leads troubleshooting and maintaining network systems, software, hardware and instrumentation of automated manufacturing equipment and facilities. This position is also responsible for designing and implementing CFR Part 11 compliance solutions and CSV (Computer Systems Validation) activities.

Essential Functions

• Maintain automation systems (Serialization, MES, SCADA, PLCs etc.), instrumentation and controls for Pharmaceutical production (Oral solid dosage equipment) and BMS (Building Management System)
• Develop tools and applications to support Engineering Systems including e.g. SharePoint, equipment and system databases (only related to manufacturing equipment and facilities)
• Perform preventive maintenance associated to Manufacturing IT systems, access control, networks, automated equipment and databases
• Support Manufacturing Operations with equipment troubleshooting related to networking, connectivity and automation hardware
• Maintain control system – Security Access, system & application backups, virus protection, patches, etc.
• Support and execute capital and expense projects, including developing requirements, justifications, cost estimates, project plans, scheduling, etc.
• Periodically on-call to support 24/7 production schedule
• Lead and/or execute Deviation Investigations, CAPAs tasks, SOPs creation and updates

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Engineering or Computer Science with appropriate industrial controls experience
• Minimum 7 years of instrumentation/automation/control systems engineering experience in a cGMP-regulated industry
• Minimum 2 years of prior experience supporting Werum Manufacturing Execution System (MES) a plus
• Prior experience in the design, programming, start-up, or troubleshooting of industrial control systems, such as motion/servo controllers, variable frequency drives, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, SQL databases and s, industrial communication networks, process instrumentation, and up to 480V electrical control equipment
• Prior experience performing system qualification is preferred, such as FAT/SAT, commissioning, and IQ/OQ validation
• Excellent computer and computer networking skills
• Experience in Allen-Bradley/Siemens/Omron/Yokogawa/GE-Fanuc PLC
• Experience with Factory Talk/Wonderware/Ifix is necessary
• Industrial Ethernet networks, Profibus networks, Device Net, Control Net, DH+
• Strong knowledge of Industrial instrumentation including weight scales
