Project Summary:
Through the USAID-funded Governance Integration for Stabilization and Resilience (GISR MENA) Task Order, MSI is launching the Youth and Climate Change Activity which aims to increase engagement of YLOs/YSOs in MENA that seek to advance climate mitigation and/or adaptation initiatives through grants awards. This activity also aims to strengthen each grantees’ technical and organizational capacities to implement and sustain climate efforts. In parallel, a shared learning agenda will be adopted to build the evidence base for YLO/YSOs working in climate action, as well as foster peer learning, mentorship, and collaboration opportunities between grantees and other networks in this space. This includes facilitating grantees potential representation and engagement at the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties 27 (UNFCCC COP 27) in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

Position Summary:
The Travel Coordinator will, on a short-term basis, provide travel coordination support for a youth delegation attending events around the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) event in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt from November 7-18, 2022. Reporting to and working with the Project Manager and Team Leader, the Travel Coordinator will carry out the tasks listed below. The anticipated timeline for this assignment is June – November 2022.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate pre-departure, travel, lodging, and transit logistics for all travelers to and from Egypt or potentially another location.
Ensure travel and lodging is compliant with relevant USAID contract regulations.
Provide assistance to travelers and project teams in the event of flight cancelations or re-bookings when necessary.
Research and assist project teams in obtaining required visas for travel.
Research COVID-19 related entry and transit requirements and considerations.
Arrange for timely shipment of documents and other materials for travel.
Monitor travel and intelligence provider alerts and develop solutions to near-term issues potentially affecting travel such as inclement weather, organized strikes, global events, etc.
Maintain accurate files on each traveler including all backup documentation for each trip.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline required.
Minimum three years of direct experience required, preferably in logistical planning, event planning or other operational roles with work at an internationally-focused organization.
Knowledge of USG regulations required. Knowledge of USAID regulations preferred.
Demonstrated attention to detail, flexibility, reliability, resourcefulness, and creative problem-solving skills.
Experience working independently as well as with all levels of management and staff.
Experience handling multiple tasks requiring a high degree of attention to detail with changing levels of priority.
Experience in international work and/or travel strongly desired.
Prior employment working with visa procurement strongly desired.
Fluency in English required.
