State News Anchor – Content Creator Full Time NEW

This role is compensated through founding equity in Aebly Media, with the transition to salaried pay as we scale. This is not a salaried position upfront — you’re joining as a founding contributor with real ownership in what you help build.

The Anchor Network 

We’re building a first-of-its-kind State Anchor Network — one creator per state (50 states plus the Capitol), each serving as the authoritative voice for their state on Aebly Media. This is the founding cohort. Your state is yours — we don’t double up.

The Role 

You will be the voice of your state on Aebly Media. Short-form vertical video briefs covering your governor, senators, state legislature, and the bills that actually shape life in your state. You own your name, your voice, and your audience. Aebly Media owns the show. You’d coordinate with our State News Anchor Director, editorial team, media trackers, and content editors who will support your production and help turn your coverage into polished, platform-ready content.

What you’ll do

• Produce short-form vertical videos per week (60 to 90 seconds), including a Monday recap of weekend developments, for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Aebly-owned channels
• Cover your governor, senators, state legislature, bills, elections, ballot issues, and major local developments in clear everyday language
• Decide what’s worth covering in your state — Aebly provides distribution, analytics, and the platform, not the script
• Use approved Aebly hooks, intro/outro bumpers, captions, hashtags, and creator landing page CTAs
• Upload raw files, captions, thumbnails, and final exports to the shared content system
• Test multiple formats including issue explainers, candidate breakdowns, bill breakdowns, “where I stand” compass content, and state-level civic briefs
• Collaborate asynchronously with editors, media trackers, and the Anchor Director to turn tracked stories into publishable content
• Maintain Aebly’s core editorial posture: make bias explicit, ground claims in facts, and avoid telling viewers what to think

Expected deliverables

• Short-form video batches delivered on the agreed weekly cadence
• Draft scripts or bullet outlines for each video
• Raw video files, final captions, on-screen text notes, and source links where applicable
• Creator-specific guest code or referral CTA included when assigned
• Performance notes on which hooks, topics, and formats are working in your state

What we’re looking for

• Comfortable on camera and able to produce clean vertical video with a phone or basic gear
• Follows state-level politics or is willing to learn your state’s political landscape deeply
• Can explain complex political developments in clear, everyday language
• Able to work remotely, respond asynchronously on Slack, and maintain a consistent weekly content cadence
• Comfortable having a point of view while grounding content in facts
• Reliable with file naming, uploads, and deadlines in a distributed team environment

Helpful but not required

• Experience covering state or local politics
• Existing audience on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Substack, or podcast platforms
• Campaign, journalism, campus media, debate, or civic engagement experience
• Basic editing ability in CapCut, Premiere, Descript, DaVinci Resolve, or similar tools
• Knowledge of your state’s legislature, congressional delegation, governor, city politics, or election administration

How success is measured

• Videos completed on schedule at the agreed weekly cadence
• Accuracy, clarity, and consistency of civic coverage
• Views, saves, shares, comments, and completed Aebly profile conversions from creator links or guest codes
• Ability to test hooks, formats, and state-specific storylines quickly
• Collaboration and responsiveness within the distributed team

Compensation is initially through founding equity, with the expectation of transitioning to salaried compensation as the company scales.
