What To Expect Tesla is committed to making residential solar and storage accessible through a lower-cost, customer-first sales model — one that replaces traditional door-to-door tactics with an inside sales team of Energy Advisors and best-in-class digital tools that let customers self-serve from system design through equipment selection. The Sr Manager, Residential Direct Sales owns and evolves this channel nationally, setting the operational strategy that makes this model win. This leader oversees the Energy Advisor team and the residential incentives program, partners with upstream Marketing to sharpen demand generation and consumer awareness, aligns with downstream Operations on capacity, and works alongside Business Development and Finance to develop competitive customer offers that drive conversion without driving up cost.
What You’ll Do
Develop and execute growth strategy for the residential direct sales channel — setting targets, improving conversion, and evolving the model to reduce customer acquisition cost
Own the residential incentives program — design structure, eligibility, payout mechanics, and performance tracking to support competitive customer offers
Lead through subordinate managers; accountable for team structure, performance, staffing, and costs across the Energy Advisor sales org (~50–60 staff)
Partner with Business Development and Finance to develop new customer offers and evaluate offer economics
Partner with upstream Marketing on demand generation, consumer awareness, and campaign strategy to drive qualified leads into the direct channel
Align with downstream Operations to match sales commitments to installation capacity and ensure a seamless customer experience
Manage the sales cost center — holding the team accountable to CAC, sales budgets, and incentive spend against conversion and volume targets

Experience owning or building incentive programs — structure, economics, eligibility, and performance measurement
Experience partnering cross-functionally with Finance, Business Development, and Marketing to develop customer offers and drive channel economics
Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills — comfortable with CAC, conversion metrics, and cost center management
