Refrigeration Technician Full Time

Refrigeration Technician will be responsible for the service, repair and preventative maintenance of refrigeration and ammonia systems and equipment at a winery. Must have strong troubleshooting skills and experience in ammonia/refrigeration/HVAC systems and safety.

Candidates should also have a solid background in mechanical and electrical industrial maintenance and will be expected to perform duties in these areas in addition to refrigeration work.

Essential duties include:

• Installs and maintains diverse HVAC, Ammonia Refrigeration, and/or Electrical Systems
• Performs general and preventative maintenance on all compressors and HVAC systems, change filters and replaces any parts as they wear out. Will also work on chillers, condensers, valves, pumps, etc.
• Ensures calibration of thermostats, RTDs, and other controls
• Performs mechanical and electrical checks on motors and belts and handles lubrication duties
• Maintains and repairs HVAC, Ammonia Refrigeration, and/or Electrical systems throughout site
• Reads wiring schematics and diagrams for all equipment.
• Performs diagnostics and determines root cause pertaining to malfunctions on HVAC, Ammonia, Refrigeration, and/or Electrical systems
• Responds to emergency situations in order to resolve issues on an immediate basis
• Replaces faulty or expired parts

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience working with ammonia/refrigeration systems; HVAC experience could be transferable depending on equipment and background
• 5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance within a production/manufacturing facility.
• Welding/fabrication experience is a plus. Spot welding as needed when machinery/equipment break down.
• Must have RETA training and/or CIRO/CARO certification
• Must provide own tools.

Additional Qualifications:

• Understands basic refrigeration cycle to include: identifying components in refrigeration circuit, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the refrigeration circuit, using manifold gauge set, pressure/temperature chart and temperature measuring devices for routine maintenance and troubleshooting. Understands refrigeration recovery, evacuation and charging.
• Possess very in-depth knowledge and understanding of all components and theory of operation
• Understands basic electron theory, how electricity travels, AC and DC currents, single phase and three phase circuits, and series and parallel circuits. Ability to read basic wiring diagrams. Understanding of Ohms Law. Ability to use multi-meters to read voltage, current and resistance values. Must be able to troubleshoot basic electrical circuits.
• Understands basic heating cycle to include: identifying components in heating system, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the heating system using a gas pressure test and other devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot.
• Mechanical – Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Physics – Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid and material dynamics, as well as mechanical

Shift Information:

Normal Schedule (November-July)
4/10 schedule (Mon-Thurs or Tue-Fri)
Day Shift: 5 AM-330 PM
Swing Shift: 3 PM-130 AM
There are two day shift teams and one team on swing shift. Teams will rotate shift every third month. For example, Team 1 will be on day shift for two months and then go to swing shift on the third month, before returning back to days for another two months.

Harvest Schedule (August-October)
Work 5-6 days per week on 12-hour shifts (6 AM-630 PM or 6 PM-630 AM)
Work days will overlap weekends, either Sun-Thurs or Tue-Sat
Will need to be on-call at times for any service issues
