Job Description
Under direction of Lead Mechanical Welder/Machinist , performs a wide variety of duties relating to machine shop operations; lays out and sets up machine work on engine lathes, drill presses, shaper, boring mill, milling machine, grinders, band saws, knife grinders, roll grinder and benchwork; uses hand tools, and variety of machinist tools; insures safety of self, others, and equipment in all work areas.
Role and Responsibilities
***This is NOT a CNC Role. Must have Manual Machining Experience***
Produces replacement parts and makes repairs to production equipment or parts, as assigned, using any or all of the above captioned machine shop Equipment or tools.
Repairs turbines and boiler feed water pumps; performs other comparable and related duties as directed; insures safety of self and others by consistently following safety procedures in accordance with good housekeeping and mill safety standards.
Attends and participates in the appropriate training for the use of fire extinguishing equipment and notification procedures should a small, containable fire ignite in the work area.

Associate’s Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
