OrganicLife is seeking an experience HR Specialist to join their Chicago leadership team!

OrganicLife is a proven leader in: foodservice management, early childcare meal operations, restaurant management, and hotel food and beverage service.

We are looking for an HR leader with experience in the foodservice industry.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering and helping resolve work-related problems.
• Analyze and modify compensation and benefits policies to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
• Advise managers on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment, and recommend needed changes.
• Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
• Perform difficult staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing, refereeing disputes, firing employees, and administering disciplinary procedures.
• Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
• Overview all unemployment cases, confirm with managers and complete on time.
• Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion and employee benefits.
• Provide first line support in HR related functions
• Build solid relationships with functional leaders
• A role model leader and an advocate of change, building organizational trust and promoting a positive workplace culture, partnering and communicating leadership on trends
• Provide guidance to team members regarding employment issues in such areas as policy, procedure interpretation, coaching and corrective action, leaves of absence, development plans, and terminations
• Support the performance management process and provide guidance to leaders on their employee reviews and evaluations
• Provide training and consultation when needed
• Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
• Create and maintain a job description library.
• Oversee payroll department and assure all employees are paid correctly and on time
• Structure a time keeping process not consisting of timeclocks
• Overview employee handbook and make necessary changes to make sure company is compliant.
• Manage workman’s compensations claims and train managers on the process needed to submit claims on a timely basis
