JOB SUMMARY

Manages the development and design of tools, fixtures and other devices used for production based on engineering specifications. Designs dies specifically for cold heading of fasteners. Ensures the designed tools are consistent with standard tool configuration and effective. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. Learns, organizes and preserves documented and undocumented company standards, procedures, and related intellectual property to facilitate ongoing success in tool design and production.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Performs a variety of engineering assignments in developing and implementing tooling/processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in the most cost-efficient manner.
• Troubleshoots tooling issues resolving tooling/work in process problems while optimizing efficiency and eliminating downtime.
• Evaluates process flow and plant layout recommending and implementing improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations and equipment utilization to improve thru put, reduce labor/manufacturing costs, and improve safety.
• Develops costs for test production data; prepares technical analysis, recommends production methods and processes required to meet tooling design objectives.
• Reviews proposals of, and develops new, outside vendors for the purchase of tooling services to augment internal capacity.
• Continuously monitors operations to ensure compliance with approved methods and quality standards.
• Coordinates and develops tooling schedules for projects.
• Develops the PFMEA’s control plans and schedules.
• Performs line validation and trial run management.

• Strong technical and analytical ability.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Knowledge of statistical methods.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum of 5 years manufacturing/tooling experience required.
• Experience in die design for cold heading is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to stand, stoop and lift to 40 lbs.
• May have prolonged periods sitting at a desk or walking around the plant

Pay: $60,099.11 – $116,000.72 per year
