McLane Company Hiring for Workers Compensation Manager (REMOTE) Full Time

This position oversees the handling of Workers’ Comp and TX Injury Benefit claims for all entities in McLane’s insurance program (over 23,000 teammates) and significantly impacts the company’s bottom line by:

• Ensuring TPA’s adherence to McLane-specific handling instructions and Best Practices
• Aggressively pursuing resolution of claims through daily contact and periodic on-site claims strategy meetings

• Annual Salary Range: $75,000. to $107,500.00 based on qualifications and experience.
• Bonus: This role is also eligible to participate in the annual incentive plan with a target incentive of 15% of your base annual salary.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Maximize TPA performance by
  • Conducting on-site claim strategy meetings with TPA, defense counsel, and McLane stakeholders in which a resolution strategy for every open claim is agreed upon
  • Ensure claims reserves are adequate to reflect probable ultimate outcome
  • Maintain strong business relationships with Brokers, Carriers, TPAs and other key ancillary vendors
  • Review for accuracy and authorize payment of service invoices
  • Complete state reports for self-insured jurisdictions
  • Authorize reserve changes of $25K to $200K
  • Authorize settlements of up to $200K
• Prepare/distribute financial and other data reports as needed to all McLane operating units, senior Management, brokers and underwriters.
• Oversee litigation of Workers Comp and TX Injury Benefit claims. Coordinate discovery with defense counsel, McLane stakeholders with strong emphasis on resolution throughout the process.
• Effectively work with McLane Legal and HR to resolve claims issues that overlap into their areas of responsibility
• Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree
• 5 or more years of TPA/Insurance Carrier experience in workers’ compensation
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills – must be a critical thinker
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and achieve business goals and objectives
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other workers comp and claims-related software
