About CPC

The College Persistence Coalition (CPC) is building the infrastructure to bridge K–12, higher education, and workforce systems at critical transition points where too many students are lost. Our Gateway Math Initiative focuses on one of the earliest and most consequential barriers to persistence—gateway math—and works to align instruction, supports, and expectations across systems to improve student outcomes at scale.

CPC has demonstrated promising early outcomes through its Gateway Math pilots. The next phase of impact depends on scaling these models across institutions without losing quality.

This role is critical to ensuring that partnerships move beyond agreement into real, sustained implementation—so that more students successfully complete gateway math and persist in college.

The Role

The Managing Director of School Supports (MDSS) will lead CPC’s K–12-facing strategy and implementation in New York, ensuring high-quality execution of CPC’s Gateway Math programming across partner schools.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving instructional alignment, supporting educators, and ensuring that CPC’s dual enrollment and professional learning models translate into strong student outcomes. The Managing Director will play a critical role in scaling CPC’s work across schools while maintaining fidelity to the model.

The MDSS will also develop and lead professional development sessions at partnering colleges and cultivate relationships with CUNY and SUNY institutions.

Core Responsibilities

School Partnerships & Implementation

1. Build and manage relationships with school leaders, instructional leaders, and teachers across partner high schools
2. Lead implementation of CPC’s Gateway Math Lab and dual enrollment models across sites
3. Ensure strong execution and consistency across all partner schools

Instructional Leadership & Educator Support

1. Design and facilitate professional development for college professors and high school teachers aligned to CPC’s Gateway Math initiatives
2. Support teachers in:
3. strengthening math instruction
4. addressing prerequisite skill gaps
5. building student motivation and belonging
6. Provide ongoing coaching and technical assistance to partner educators

Dual Enrollment & Cross-System Alignment

1. Lead the implementation of CPC’s dual enrollment model at partner schools
2. Coordinate with college faculty (in partnership with CPC’s postsecondary lead) to ensure alignment of instruction and expectations
3. Support shared planning structures between high school teachers and college professors

Program Design & Continuous Improvement

1. Collaborate with CPC leadership to refine and scale instructional models and training modules
2. Identify implementation challenges and iterate on solutions in real time
3. Capture and codify best practices for replication across sites

Scaling & Expansion (New York and Los Angeles)

1. Support expansion to new partner schools and districts in New York and Los Angeles
2. Lead onboarding and facilitation at new sites
3. Represent CPC in local partnerships with schools, districts, and community organizations

Innovation Design Labs

1. Partner with CPC leadership to design and facilitate Innovation Design Labs and convenings
2. Support cross-sector collaboration between K–12, higher education, and workforce partners

Required experience: 

• 5–8+ years of experience in K–12 education, including instructional leadership (e.g., AP, Dean, Instructional Coach)
• Strong track record of improving student outcomes, particularly in math or related disciplines
• Experience supporting and coaching teachers
• Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives across multiple classrooms or schools
• Bachelor’s degree required

Preferred experience: 

• Experience collaborating with higher education partners (community colleges, dual enrollment programs)
• Familiarity with NYCPS and NYC-based charter schools
• Experience designing and facilitating professional development
• Advanced degree in education, leadership, or related field
