Position Summary
Under the supervsion of the Chief Medical Officer, the nurse (Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)) performs duties in various clinical programs and provides direct patient care and clinical support to Physicians and Advance Practice Providers (PA/NP).
The nurse is distinguished by level of licensure, scope of practice, and degree of independent clinical judgment exercised. All nurses are expected to be trained in procedures related to assigned clinical duties and to function within their licensure scope under applicable federal and state regulations.
This position provides high-quality nursing care and support, working collaboratively with providers and multidisciplinary team members. The nurse promotes and restores patient health through assessment, implementation of care, coordination of services, and patient education. Specifically:
· The RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, delegate, and evaluate comprehensive patient care
· The LPN provides direct patient care under the direction of an RN or provider, contributing to patient assessment and implementing established care plans. Explicit Statement: LPN function under direction of RN/provider per Kansas Nurse Practice Act
All nurses provide physical and psychosocial support to patients and families and are responsible for maintaining strict patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Essential Functions
(not all duties may be assigned to all imcumbents depending on licensure level)
Clinical Care & Patient Services
· Participates in clinic operations, including prevention and control of communicable diseases
· Performs diagnostic screening (e.g., specimen collection, point-of-care testing)
· Administers medications, immunizations, and treatments per orders and scope
· Accurately documents clinical findings in the EMR
· Assists with exams/procedures and prepares exam rooms
· Performs lab testing, maintains quality control, and reports abnormal/critical results promptly
Care Coordination & Patient Education
· Provides patient education on diagnoses, treatment, and self-care
· Supports care-planning, coordination, referrals, and follow-up
· Serves as a patient advocate and resource
Care Planning & Clinical Judgment
· RN: Conducts comprehensive assessments, develops/adjusts care plans, evaluates outcomes
· LPN: Contributes to assessments, implements care plans, and reports patient status/changes
Quality, Safety & Compliance
· Follows universal precaustions and OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standards
· Maintains lab, medication, vaccine, and equipment logs
· Ensures equipment safety and functionality
· Participates in QA/QI to improve quality measures and supports PCMH initiatives to meet requirements for recognization
Operations & Program Support
· Maintains clinical supplies and report needs
· Acts as a liaison to public health agencies for reportable conditions
· Participates in education/training; may assist with staff orientation and oversight
General Duties
· Performs duties across programs and assigned
· Maintains professionalism in high-volume or emergency situations
· Completes other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
Licensure
· Required: Current Kansas nursing license
Education
· Completion of an accredited nursing program
Experience
· Previous clinical experience preferred
Skills & Competencies
· Strong clinical knowledge and technical skills appropriate to licensure
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain composure
· Proficiency in EHR documenation
· Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
Decision Making & Accountability
RN
· Exercises independent clinical judgement within scope

LPN
· Performs duties under direction of Provider

· Maintains ethical and professional standards
· All duties are performed in accordance with applicable state scope of practice regulations, organizational policies, and HRSA Health Center Program requirements.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Pay: $27.88 – $36.40 per hour
