Advanced GPR Technician / Advanced Underground Utility Locator
Location: King County or Pierce County, WA
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $35.00–$37.00 per hour DOE
Reports To: Field Supervisor / Operations Manager

Position Overview
Mt. View Locating Services is seeking an experienced Advanced GPR Technician and/or Advanced Underground Utility Locator to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is highly skilled, safety-focused, self-motivated, and capable of working independently while maintaining exceptional customer service and technical standards.
This position requires an individual who is confident locating and identifying all major utility types, solving complex locating challenges, and representing the company professionally in the field.

This position is best suited for a seasoned locator who enjoys solving complex underground utility challenges, takes pride in delivering accurate and defensible marks, and understands the importance of protecting people, property, and infrastructure. We are looking for someone who can work independently, think critically in the field, and confidently handle projects ranging from private utility locating and design surveys to advanced GPR investigations.

Key Responsibilities
- Accurately locate, identify, and mark underground utilities using industry-standard locating equipment and GPR technology.
- Interpret utility records, maps, and construction plans.
- Investigate and resolve complex locating challenges using advanced troubleshooting techniques.
- Maintain detailed, accurate field documentation and reports.
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders.
- Adhere to all company and industry safety standards and procedures.
- Demonstrate leadership, accountability, professionalism, and integrity in daily operations.
- Support a culture of continuous improvement, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Serve as a positive representative of Mt. View Locating Services in the field.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 3 years of advanced underground utility locating experience.
- Minimum 2 years of advanced Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) experience.
- Strong understanding of all utility types, including electric, gas, telecommunications, water, sewer, septic, and storm systems.
- Proven ability to solve complex locating challenges independently.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Computer proficiency and ability to complete digital documentation.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred
- Experience with utility mapping and design locating.
- Experience with private utility locating and construction support services.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.

Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- Day Shift
- 8–12 hour shifts
- Overtime opportunities available
- On-call rotation as needed
