Freedom Solar Power is looking for a motivated Human Resources (HR) Assistant to join our rapidly growing team. This individual will play a key role on our team in supporting our business administratively in several HR functions, including the following: benefits, HRIS management, onboarding, orientation, as well as various HR audits. Because the responsibilities of this role are diverse, the ideal candidate will be a resourceful person with a passion for HR who has the ability and desire to learn quickly. This is a non-remote position based at our Austin, TX office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES:

• Manages new hire onboarding to include pre-employment screening, tracking, and collecting all paperwork, verifying I-9 documentation, and assisting employees as needed through the onboarding process.

• Communicates with new hires during onboarding via phone, text and email.

• Set up employee benefits, 401k and new hires in ADP.

• Willingness to learn about benefits, 401k and ADP to assist employees with questions/problems.

• Maintains compliant employee personnel files to include routine audits and updates to HRIS.

• Responds to employee questions regarding company policies, benefits, and payroll questions.

• Provides administrative support to the HR Director and other members of the team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• 1+ years of Human Resource experience required; HR experience in construction or electrical fields highly desired.

• Prior experience with HRIS and Workforce ADP strongly preferred

• Multi-state HR experience highly preferred (TX, CO, FL, VA, NC)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, and COMPETENCY:

• Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures

• Ability to work independently under general direction

• Ability to problem solve and handle non-routine situations by determining the approach or action to take and interpreting guidelines, procedures, policies, and practices.

• Outstanding knowledge of MS Office and Google

• Excellent communication and people skills

• Ability to maintain confidential information.

• Desire to work as a team with a results-driven approach

• Process- and detail-oriented

• Good judgment and the ability to ask for help when needed

• Ability to work with diverse and strong personalities to drive results in a fast-paced environment
