Big Picture View

As Senior International Buyer, for both distributed and manufactured products, you will be reporting to the Senior Director of Global Procurement and Supply Chain and work closely with the Senior International Buyer and will coordinate and execute material program activities to achieve company objectives. This will include effective procurement processes, inventory balancing, make vs. buy decisions, materials flow improvement, MRP utilization, productivity enhancements, and quality. You will be asked to source items, make vendor recommendations as well as control costs and terms all while maintaining high service levels and strong vendor relations. We believe in buying the right thing, at the right cost, in the right quantity, delivered on the right day. In addition to procurement, a strong knowledge of customs compliance is required; i.e, classifying products, reviewing documents required to clear customs, and how to read a Customs Form 7501.

What You Need to be Eligible

• BA/BS degree in Supply Chain Management or related field is preferred.
• 5+ years experience working in procurement, sourcing, and supply chain required with a substantial amount of exposure to US customs and trade compliance.
• Previous experience with a scientific, educational, or chemical company, consumer packaging goods, in a high SKU count portfolio, is a plus.
• Experience with Anaplan, SAP, AS400 is a plus. Sourcing experience is preferred. 2+ years international sourcing experience with suppliers in Asia and Europe.

The Buyer — Day-to-Day:

• Implement supply chain strategies for long term operations, new product introductions and end of product life concerns.
• Manage supplier relationships to ensure cost, quality and supply assurance goals are met. Monitor purchase price variances.
• Analyze purchase requisitions versus inventory targets, service considerations, demand and sourcing options prior to generating Purchase Orders.
• Communicate pertinent information to both internal customers and international suppliers to keep apprised and to prevent problems.
• Monitor, correct, and close out past due vendor invoices to ensure MRP and purchase order accuracy
• Resolve supplier quality issues and develop corrective action plans
• You will conduct vendor audits and evaluations as required including taking corrective actions regarding vendors utilizing the vendor scorecard system.
• Streamline procurement processes with efficient use of ERP/MRP system and other tools.
• Ability to work cross functionally among receiving/ accounting/ and customer service.
• Responsible for compliance with applicable international policies and procedures
• Be the company point of contact for classifying a product, review documents required to clear Customs.
• Ability to read a Form 7501.
• Knowledge of regulations on importation of various products, such as children’s, wood, and electronics, along with government certificates and custom forms.
• Maintain database of HTS for all international SKUs.
• Up to date on any government changes on Duty Rates.
