In this role, you would be the primary technical representative for Medtronic Atrial Fibrillation Solutions customers and the sales and clinical teams. The Field Service Engineer (FSE) is also responsible for the technical assessment, installation, support, servicing, maintenance and de-installation of all AF Solutions systems at customer sites.
A Day in the Life
The FSE works closely with the Field Service and Technical Service teams to help coordinate feedback with the Marketing, Quality, Production and Engineering groups in order to continually evaluate the performance of products in the field. This position may also require providing technical assistance to physicians or technologists during a clinical procedure.
Main Responsibilities
Perform installations, inspections, verification, corrective and preventive maintenance to ensure the successful installation of AF Solutions consoles.
Maintain and submit technical records and documentation as per regulatory requirements.
Provide information from experiences in the field to colleagues in the office as well as updates to the database.
Provide input to service processes to ensure continuous improvement and evolution of the Field Service organization. This includes the development and maintenance of Service documentation and procedures.
Provide input to Engineering and Manufacturing for upgrades to AF Solutions products.
Participate in the development and delivery of technical training to our distributors, partners, agents and technically qualified representatives of customer base.
Help facilitate the smooth introduction of new products to customers by participating in design improvement discussions.
Investigate, analyze and recognize trends in technical data as it relates to AF Solutions products.
Participate in special projects as requested by the US Field Service Manager or designee.
Participate in and provide technical training to physicians, EP technicians and department managers at customer sites.
Physical/environmental Attributes
Frequent 2-handed lifting of up to 40 lbs. from floor to chair/table and from one to another surface at approximately the same level.
Environmental exposures include eye protection, infectious disease and radiation
Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
Ability to effectively use a mobile phone, PC, keyboard and mouse
Frequent bending/stooping, squatting and balance
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in relation to travel and operating a personal computer.
Must be insurable and maintain a valid drivers license.
Ability to travel extensively with ease (approx. 75% of time)
Must be able to drive approximately 30% of the time within assigned territory.
Environmental exposure to infectious disease and radiation.
FSE’s are required to be within their assigned territory each day to be available as unscheduled needs arise.
