Role Description

The Executive Vice President Technology is a full-time, remote leadership role responsible for setting and executing Blockstream’s technology vision and roadmap. This role oversees technology strategy across products and platforms, aligning engineering priorities with business objectives in Bitcoin-based financial services. The EVP Technology will lead distributed technical teams, establish best-in-class engineering, security, and reliability standards, and ensure scalable, compliant infrastructure for global customers. Daily responsibilities include driving IT strategy, reviewing and prioritizing technology initiatives, managing cross-functional projects, and partnering with executives in product, operations, and compliance. The role also involves stakeholder communication, technology risk management, vendor oversight, and fostering a high-performance, inclusive engineering culture.

Qualifications

• Strong IT Strategy and Information Technology leadership skills, with experience defining and executing technology roadmaps in complex, high-scale environments.
• Proven Strategic Planning and Analytical Skills to evaluate emerging technologies, assess trade-offs, and make data-informed decisions aligned with business goals.
• Advanced Project Management capabilities, including leading cross-functional initiatives, managing timelines and budgets, and delivering large-scale technology programs.
• Executive experience overseeing architecture, infrastructure, and security in fintech, digital assets, or financial services is highly beneficial.
• Demonstrated success leading distributed or remote engineering teams, with a focus on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Deep understanding of Bitcoin, blockchain technologies, or cryptography, or a strong willingness and ability to ramp up quickly in these domains.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; an advanced degree or equivalent executive-level experience is a plus.
