Position Overview: We are seeking a talented and driven Research Associate to join our team and focus on the public equity portfolio with work experience in financial analysis, equity research, or a related field. As a key member of the investment team, the Research Associate will work directly with the Chief Investment Officer to conduct in-depth analysis of publicly traded companies, generate investment ideas, and support portfolio decision-making.. The Research Associate role is a generalist role and has a core equity bias. In addition to core responsibilities, the Research Associate will also contribute directly to the Firm’s long/short investment strategies, with a focus on identifying differentiated alpha opportunities. Exceptional performers may be promoted to the role of Equity Research Analyst.
Role Summary:
1. Conduct Fundamental Analysis: Perform comprehensive fundamental analysis, including financial statement analysis, industry research, and competitive benchmarking to assess company performance and prospects. Comprehensive write-ups and financial models are core deliverables, with opportunities to engage directly with company management teams. Modeling and Valuation: Build and maintain detailed financial models to forecast company performance, assess intrinsic value and derive price targets. Focus on key business and valuation drivers and utilize various valuation methodologies such as DCF, comparable company analysis and precedent transactions analysis (where applicable).
2. Industry Research: Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory developments, and macroeconomic factors impacting assigned sectors. Conduct industry-specific research to identify emerging opportunities and risks.
3. Investment Idea Generation: Generate investment ideas through independent research and analysis, identifying undervalued or mispriced securities with significant upside potential. Present investment theses to the CIO and investment team for review. The portfolio maintains a quality and core bias which may include companies with superior growth and strong competitive advantages. Work with the CIO daily to develop fundamental equity research analytical abilities with growing awareness of portfolio construction.
4. Due Diligence: Assist in conducting due diligence on potential investment opportunities, including meetings with company management, industry experts, and other relevant stakeholders. Evaluate business strategies, competitive positioning, and operational performance.
5. Report Writing: Prepare comprehensive research reports, investment memos, and presentations summarizing key findings, investment recommendations, and supporting rationale. Clearly articulate investment thesis, risks, and catalysts for potential returns.
6. Monitor Portfolio Holdings: Monitor the performance of existing portfolio holdings, track relevant news and events, and provide timely updates to senior analysts and portfolio managers. Update earnings models and write up earnings releases as available. Assess potential impact of new information on investment thesis and valuation.
7. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with other members of the research team and other internal stakeholders. Communicate research findings, investment ideas, and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field. CFA designation or progress towards completion is preferred.
• Strong academic background, intellectual curiosity, and high integrity. Demonstrated ability to form independent, well-reasoned investment views. 2-4 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, or related fields, preferably with exposure to fundamental analysis and financial modeling.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and draw meaningful conclusions. Success in this role will be defined by the ability to develop differentiated investment insights, demonstrate sound judgment, and contribute meaningfully to portfolio performance.
• Proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate investment ideas and research findings effectively.
• Demonstrated passion for financial markets, with a keen interest in equity research and investment analysis.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Bloomberg required.

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.
Work Flexibility
This role is not eligible for remote work.
