Northshore Utility District (NUD) seeks a Lead Engineering Inspector to provide technical and procedural direction to inspection staff (District and Contract), guide and assist with initial and ongoing training, and to act as a point of contact for general inquiries. The successful candidate will provide review, oversight and input of water and sewer facility construction related to capital improvements, developer extensions and private service extensions.
The Engineering Inspector – Lead establishes clear understanding and effectively communicates uniform levels of acceptance among inspection staff; ensures water and sewer construction complies with District standards, specifications, permitting, contracts, Best Management Practice (BMP’s), codes, regulations, policies and procedures. Effectively communicates appropriately with District personnel, customers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and the general public; actively participates in preconstruction and design meetings; anticipates and appropriately resolves complex and sensitive issues within an assigned area of responsibility as determined by the Engineering Supervisor or the Engineering Director.

To be considered for this position candidates must possess:
– A two-year college degree in Civil Engineering Technology, or a similar approved degree, with major course work in math, surveying and/or engineering.
– Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, other commercial software, voicemail system, etc.
– Eight years of underground utility construction or inspection experience.
