LABORER

INTRODUCTION

The Laborer’s primary function is to provide labor support as needed for specialty crew. The

Laborer also performs setup and cleanup tasks at job site. The following is a broad overview of the duties and responsibilities:

1.Work within industry standards, while managing multiple tasks at one time.

2. Follow all company policies and safety regulations

3. Communicate to Job Site Foreman

4.Assist all crew members

PURPOSE

The purpose of this standard procedure is to clearly define the job description of the Laborer through the outline of his/her duties, authorities and responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITY

The Laborer is directly responsible to the Foreman for the proper discharge of his/her duties.

DUTIES

Overall:

• Measures distances from grade stakes, drive stakes and stretches tight line.
• Levels earth to fine grade specifications using hand tools.
• Positions, joins, aligns, and seals pipe sections.
• Erects scaffolding, shoring, and braces.
• Applies caulking compounds by hand or with caulking gun to seal crevices.
• Performs a variety of tasks involving dexterous us of hand and tools.
• Cleans tools, equipment materials and work areas.

• Greases, oils, and performs minor repairs on equipment.
• Inventories, stages, loads and unloads material. Fuses, preps, and cleans HDPE pipe, assembles fittings and parts to specifications.
• Assists with Bore Gel and drilling fluid clean-up and mixing. Job site clean-up. Final Punch-list items and testing.
• Communicate quantities, problems concerning equipment, material, customers, etc. to the

Job Site Foreman.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence and present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense understandings to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and be able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

DUTIES SPECIFIC TO BUSINESS GROUP (if applicable):

• Long hours and overtime will be required, especially during our peak production seasons.

Travel and overnight stay will be required as needed.
