Poplar Springs Hospital, a 183 bed acute care and residential facility, is
located in Petersburg, Virginia, 20 minutes south of Richmond and 50 minutes
north of North Carolina. Situated on 25 acres, our serene, nature-like setting

Springs Hospital has been guided by its mission of helping those who need the
full continuum of behavioral health services. Our facility offers behavioral
and psychological treatment for adults and adolescents through our acute
programs, adolescent residential programs, as well as programs for active duty
The foremost responsibility of the position is to lead and coordinate the
organization’s efforts to effectively communicate and develop referring
relationships with payers, professional referral sources, consumers and other
customers so that their needs are served, they understand how to best use the
hospital services, and the organization experiences positive business
The Director of Marketing and Business Development will be an effective manager
and communicator and accomplish tasks by means of collaboration with
associates; will identify and concentrate on priorities; will motivate and
influence marketing team members to achieve goals; will remain flexible in
thought and action; will possess technical knowledge, skill and proficiency in
marketing; will be analytical and approach systems and goals in a logical
manner. The Director will promote and enhance a marketing and customer service
culture within the organization. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum of Bachelors in Marketing, Business Administration or in some
Behavioral Science. Master Degree preferred. Minimum of three years experience
directly related to mental health care marketing in hospital or managed care
environments. A strong client service background is mandatory. Proven record in
business development and sales.
Must be at least 21 years of age per Commonwealth of Virginia Interdepartmental
Regulation of Children’s Residential Facilities. (22VAC42-11-380, pg. 43)
Must have patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
Good communication skills; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand
the English language.
Basic clerical skills, basic experience with office equipment (telephone, copy
machine, fax, etc.)
Experience with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook,
