Human Resources Generalist
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level. These duties include but are not limited to: benefits administration, recruitment, maintaining personnel and medical files, ensuring compliance with regulations, performing research, preparing and generating reports, advising staff on the interpretation of personnel policies, practices, procedures, rules, benefits and programs and working on special projects as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in related field, preferred or equivalent work experience. 3-5 years experience in Human Resources. Excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong computer skills including Excel, Outlook and Word. Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required.
Essential Functions –
Recruitment: Recruitment activities for non-clinical and clinical staff to include interviewing, reference checks, employment offers, background checks, scheduling employee health assessment. Exercises independent judgment in regards to selecting candidates to interview and selecting qualified candidates for hire. Attends job fairs. Organizes recruitment events when needed to fill vacancies.
Benefits: Administers and processes all leave of absence requests, disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability, FMLA. Exercises independent judgment when determining employees eligibility for various forms of leave. Informs employee of FML approval as well as their rights and responsibilities. Acts as a liaison between disability carrier and employee. Using HRIS, tracks continuous and intermittent FML- alerts employees when required to re-certify. Administers FSA claims. Scans all benefit information into electronic folders by employee name. Send e-mails to employees regarding benefit stipend. Presents benefit information to employees at various sites during benefit open enrollment. Presents benefit information to new employees during New Employee Orientation when needed. Sends enrollments to COOL for processing, updates UltiPro, enters deductions and scans benefit forms to H drive. Assists HR Manager with day to day benefits administration as needed. Sends out necessary documents for employees who resign. Ie: COBRA, 401-K distribution letters, Unum LI portability paperwork. Responds to employee benefit questions that come to the HR office and via HR Benefits e-mail group. Updates and maintains benefit forms.
Workers Compensation: Handles employee occurrences by reporting to the Carrier and maintaining internal reports. Contacts injured employees to explain Workers Compensation and follows up with them as needed. Completes the Safety Management Grid for EOC Committee monthly. Completes annual Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses.
