The Transportation Manager is esponsible for managing all aspects of an intermodal and drayage operation while utilizing data analysis and continuous improvements to produce efficiency within the team and increase profitability. Additional Responsibilities include:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in business, administration, transportation, and logistics, or related field; or a combination of post-high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE: 5 – 10 years of domestic and/or international transportation experience, with experience/knowledge in account management with a logistics organization preferred. 3 – 5 years experience in a supervisory or management position. Brokerage Drayage and Intermodal experience highly preferred.
TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, and Word; knowledge of U.S. transportation, DOT regulations, and import/export regulations. Blue Yonder and TMW experience preferred.
COMPETENCIES: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills. Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously while meeting assigned deadlines. Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment. Ability to gather, interpret, report, and use data and other information concerning assigned activities. Ability to function effectively with, or as part of a team. Skilled in preparing clear and concise documents, including but not limited to reports, procedures, correspondences, and other written materials. Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of import forwarding and customs brokerage in a domestic and/or international capacity. Familiar with logistics and transportation principles, concepts, and methodologies including inventory management, moving products via various modes, cost analysis, and resource optimization.
OTHER: Travel may be required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature, and the like. Extended use of a computer keyboard, viewing of a computer monitor, and the ability to sit for long periods of time.
