Creative Intern — Photography & Book Development Full Time

Alabaster is one of the most exciting and fast-growing companies in faith-based publishing today. Founded in Los Angeles, we create beautiful and compelling Christian products — integrating thoughtful design, theological depth, and cultural relevance to help people engage with faith in meaningful ways.

We’re looking for a highly creative and detail-oriented intern to support both photo production and book development. This role sits at the intersection of creative direction, editorial, and product—ideal for someone who loves visual storytelling and wants hands-on experience bringing books to life from concept to print.

You’ll work closely with the Brand/Creative team on photoshoots, image development, and book production workflows.

What You’ll Do

Photography & Creative Production

• Assist in planning and executing photoshoots (studio + on-location)
• Support set design, prop sourcing, and moodboarding
• Help with lighting setup, styling, and shoot logistics
• Organize, cull, and manage image selects post-shoot
• Prepare image exports for editorial and production use
• Maintain and organize Alabaster’s image library

Book Development

• Support early-stage concept development for books (visual direction, references, research)
• Assist in pairing imagery with written content
• Help review layouts in InDesign for consistency and quality
• Ensure files are properly organized for production and print
• Collaborate with editorial and production teams on revisions
• Assist in preparing files for printers (FNGs, proofing support, etc.)

Creative & Editorial Support

• Source visual references (art, photography, design, historical works)
• Help build moodboards and presentation decks
• Contribute ideas to creative direction conversations
• Assist with copy/image alignment for product storytelling

• Strong eye for photography, composition, and design
• Deep appreciation for books, print, and tactile products
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Proactive, scrappy, and willing to jump into anything
• Comfortable receiving and implementing feedback quickly
• Passionate about Alabaster’s mission and aesthetic

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign)
• Basic understanding of photography (lighting, composition, editing)
• Familiarity with book design or editorial workflows
• Experience assisting on photoshoots or creative projects
