JOB SUMMARY: We are looking for an experienced Tool Designer who can design and develop tools and machinery to facilitate and optimize manufacturing processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Review part design and build requirements to determine tooling concepts, design options, testing plans and specifications.
• Design fixtures, jigs, gauges, cutting and forming tools and other items to support production and meet cost targets for tooling.
• Utilize CAD (Solidworks) to create accurate, complete, and concise design models and documentation to fabricate tools.
• Estimate costs, resource requirements and material required for tools.
• Responsible for tool from initial design concept through tool qualification in the shop.
• Work with shop personnel on developing design concepts and actively engage them throughout the design and development of the tool.
• Lead or participate in cross functional project teams designed to introduce new products, improve existing products, better our manufacturing process or, advance our competitive advantage in the marketplace.
• Monitor and improve processes on existing parts and programs.
• Ensure that all customer, company, and industry standards are adhered to.
• Have a comprehensive understanding of engineering materials and their application.
• Meet schedules and maintain quality standards.
• Provide estimate for the number of hours to design, process, and manufacture and inspect tooling components to support all facets of final product delivery.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Candidate should have a minimum of an Associates Degree and a minimum of 10 years of hands on manufacturing process experience in a machine shop environment. Aerospace industry experience is preferred. Must possess strong knowledge of blueprints, technical specifications, working in an ISO quality system and must be proficient with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office programs as well as CAD, preferably Solidworks.
