Must be a US citizen and be at least 18 years of age at the time of application. High school diploma or GED; experience in customer service or law enforcement explorer/cadet program; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia driver’s license with no more than six demerit points in the past twelve months or a DUI conviction within the past four years; binocular vision of 20/25 corrected; weight in proportion to height. No conviction of felonies and/or habitual misdemeanors. No conviction of, or guilty plea or no contest plea to: misdemeanor sex offense, or any domestic assault, pass an extensive background investigation, which includes a polygraph, psychological, medical and drug screening. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required. This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice’s “Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy” and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check. Must be a US citizen or have been a lawful resident of the US for the past ten consecutive years.
Operate assigned department vehicle. Respond to citizen calls for service that are not in progress; conduct victim and witness interviews; process evidence; prepare detailed police s; interact with community members; and perform other duties in a field assignment as assigned and as needed. Perform other work as required. PLEASE NOTE: Position open until filled first review to begin December 27, 2022.
