Department Summary

The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences is one of the largest colleges at CSU, San Bernardino, and boasts several award-winning departments offering first-rate, state-of-the-art classroom instruction, a wide variety of research experiences, as well as community-based professional activities.

Job Summary

Under the minimal supervision of the Assistant Dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, the incumbent will be responsible for providing a wide range of information technology services to CSBS. This will include various responsibilities, such as the support of several hardware and software issues, as well as the ability to research and provide faculty and staff with available options to their technology needs. This position will work as a member of a team to deploy equipment to various offices and classrooms as well as troubleshoot any issues end users may experience. The incumbent may also be assigned to work with other IT units on campus to implement strategic campus-wide IT initiatives within the college. Other duties as assigned.

Employment Status: Full-time, Exempt, Probationary with the possibility of converting to permanent.

Work Schedule

• Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, weekends and evenings may be required.
• Summer hours Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact and communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and external constituencies, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to provide consultative skills to assess user needs and provide appropriate support.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a fast-paced organization with competing priorities and distractions.
• Ability to plan and organize work schedule and work independently as well as in a team.
• Ability to integrate multiple applications and/or systems.
• Proficiency in using standard software packages.
• Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and apply problem-solving skills to technical problems.
• Ability to analyze data requirements and research data availability and access methods.
• Knowledge of data administration principles and techniques.
• Knowledge of network administration.
• Ability to coordinate and implement data exchanges and conversions.
• Knowledge of statistical and/or research databases.

Education and Experience

• The equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information systems, or in a closely related field, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study.
• Two (2) or more years of experience in IT Support related work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in higher education is highly desired.
• Great customer service skills.
• Proficiency in hardware and software technologies.
• Ability to pay attention to details and to meet deadlines and milestones.

Salary:

Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,372 – $5,300 per month

Classification Salary Range: $4,372 – $10,792 per month
