Make your mark on the history of space exploration! We are seeking team members of all backgrounds who are passionate about building software and who have a strong desire to serve on a team at the core of Blue Origin’s enterprise software group. As part of a small, hardworking, and accomplished team, you will develop enterprise software to improve the experience of employees across Blue Origin. As a Software Engineer, you will build modern web-based interfaces that support design, manufacturing, supply chain, and vehicle tests of reusable spacecraft and engines. About Our Team:
Engineering Data Processing (EDP) focuses primarily on software applications, platforms, and tools to improve Blue Origin engineering efficiency and reduce engineering process defects. EDP focuses on automating data modeling, analysis, and processing so engineers can increase the frequency and coverage of qualification tests and verification. The team brings a strong computer-science perspective to high-performance computing, data transformation, analysis pipelines, and test reporting.We use frameworks such as Angular and React and take advantage of Amazon Web Services using technologies like Terraform, git, Docker, and Kubernetes. Additionally, we usenon-relational databases like Mongo DB and Elastic Search to support high-performance web applications
Information security is vital to this role; we protect export-controlled technology secrets and proprietary company information. Let us know if yourprojects have involved PCI, HIPAA, or ISO 27001 compliance.
Work with the UI platform team and User Experience (UX) designers to design and prototype user interfaces and iterate based on user feedback
Evaluate and integrate cloud-based services to support your work, including continuous integration pipelines, UI testing frameworks, and performance monitoring
Work withStakeholdersto understand requirements and iteratively design and develop applications and systems to meet their needs
Provide rotational on-call support for the team’s systems
Diagnose and fixsoftware problems at multiple levels, including installation, deployment, configuration, server-side, and client-side issues
At least 7 years of directly proven experience writing web applications in a production environment
Demonstrated skill at deploying production systems that can scale rapidly to meet significant traffic
Solid understanding ofapplication security and testing, sufficient to deliver reliable and secure web software
Experience with strongly typed programming languages and data visualization
Deep understanding of computer science fundamentals like algorithms and data structures
Ability to solve problems by writing efficient working code, even when given incomplete or ambiguous requirements
Strong written and verbal interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with and communicate to a diverse user base
Excellent attention to detail and strong task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed
Desire to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the development, review, deployment, and support phases of the software product lifecycle
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
