Additive Manufacturing (AM) Engineer

If you answered yes, this is an exciting opportunity for an Additive Manufacturing Engineer at FalconWing Technologies!
This AM Engineer will support the development of metal additive manufacturing processes to enable materials that are currently challenging to print to be printed successfully. The engineer will be a member of the process team, developing the next generation of AM processes for aerospace and related applications. He/she will be preparing builds for print, operating and maintaining AM machines. The engineer will also collaborate with the metallurgy team to characterize the mechanical and microstructural properties of the builds.

• Responsibilities*:

• Prepare builds for print using software such as OEM build processors, Netfabb and Python to generate toolpaths

• Develop new processes using powder bed fusion technologies

• Operate metal AM machines

• Perform post processing of builds

• Gather data and analyze results from process development and from mechanical and microstructural characterization

• Review and document working procedures and serve as a champion of good laboratory practices and safe practices

• Conduct preventive maintenance on the machines, and manage the inventory of spare parts and consumables

• Qualifications: *

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical, Industrial or Welding Engineering

• Hands on experience with metal 3D Printers, including L-PBF and EBM technologies

• Experience with metalworking techniques including heat-treatment and machining

• Experience in build preparation steps for additive manufacturing

• Familiarity with coding and programming tools such as Python

• Willingness to learn and adapt with new emerging technologies

• Preferred Qualifications: *

• Master’s degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical, Industrial or Welding Engineering

• 2 Years of process experience in industry or research labs

• Ability to analyze data and create visualization of information/results

• Familiarity with the use of project management tools

• Familiarity with environment, health and safety protocols

• Experience in mechanical and microstructural characterization of metal
