Role Overview
We are hiring a Background Investigator to conduct background checks and investigations on candidates and employees. The role combines investigative rigor with discretion — producing thorough, accurate reports that hiring decisions can rely on.
Key Responsibilities
– Conduct comprehensive background investigations across employment, education, criminal, and credit
– Interview references and verify credentials with previous employers and institutions
– Search public records, court databases, and credentialing registries
– Document findings clearly and write thorough investigative reports
– Maintain compliance with FCRA, state, and industry-specific regulations
– Manage a caseload of investigations against turnaround SLAs
Required Skills and Qualifications
– 2+ years in background investigation, compliance, or investigative work
– Strong research skills and attention to detail
– Familiarity with FCRA and adverse action processes
– Excellent written communication and report writing
– Comfort with investigative tools, court records, and public databases
– Discretion when handling sensitive personal information
