The SEO Manager is responsible for growing organic website revenue for clients on AVB Marketing’s ALTA platform and who’ve opted into SEO engagements with AVB Marketing. They will report to the Director of SEO & Analytics under the eCommerce umbrella. They will be expected to lead a team of SEO specialists and analysts in monitoring organic performance, ensuring technical SEO best practices, developing forward-thinking local SEO best practices, implementing best on-page SEO practices following EAT methodology, and providing strategic leadership on search-related projects across the organization. They will collaborate closely with the Director of SEO & Analytics to ensure that all SEO tactics follow best practices outlined by major search engines’ documentation.
Manage the day-to-day efforts of clients with an SEO engagement with AVB Marketing
Develop and cultivate individuals on the SEO team and help provide them with training
Manage workflow of SEO team in conjunction with other departments within the agency to ensure punctuality and meeting deadlines for SEO projects
Provide formal and informal training to the accounts team as well as other periphery departments with an impact on SEO (i.e., website design, client services, analytics, etc.)
Work with Director of SEO & Analytics to develop and implement a multifaceted SEO strategy including on-page, off-page, local, and technical SEO
Track and monitor performance of said strategies through reports that include ongoing measurement, ad hoc analysis, and competitive insights
Work with the eCommerce, Development, Analytics, Paid Search, and Writing teams to achieve organic revenue goals
Required tasks include:
Crawl Budget Management
Troubleshooting Indexing Errors
Managing server-side rendering
Keyword research, strategy, and tracking
Local SEO strategy development and implementation
White hat backlinking strategies
Stay abreast of major algorithm changes in Google and Bing and be able to convey the implication of those changes concisely and accurately to internal and external stakeholders
Assist Director of SEO in developing new opportunities for the SEO department to continue to improve AVB Marketing’s ability to provide top-of-the-line SEO services to clients
Use tools such as Screaming Frog, SEMRush, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Merchant Center, Bing Webmaster Tools, etc. to drive strategy development and competitive insights
Familiarity with reporting visualization tools such as Data Studio and other reporting automation tools to effectively report improvement of SEO to clients paying for said services.
Bachelor’s Degree required, with a focus on Marketing, Communications, Technology, or similar field of study, OR the equivalent level of work experience in an SEO specific role within an agency
5 or more years of Search Engine Optimization experience, with 2+ years supervisory experience
eCommerce experience is a plus
Proven expertise in technical and content aspects of SEO, including crawl budget management, keyword research, structured data, rank tracking, competitive analysis, content audits, and a general understanding of website development and usability
Able to generate actionable insights from SEO and analytics tools such as SEMRush, Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, Screaming Frog, and others
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills; professionalism; strong presentation, leadership and persuasion skills. Able to translate technical information into simple terms for non-technical internal/external stakeholders
