JOB TITLE: Auto Mechanic

DEPARTMENT: Cloakworks 4X4

POSITION TYPE: Hourly

COMPENSATION: $25.00-$35.00

JOB SUMMARY: An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below represent the required knowledge, skill, and ability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned.)

• Understands and ensures compliance with manufacturer warranty and policy procedures.
• Checks the progress of each repair order throughout the day.
• Maintains high-quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks.
• Road tests vehicles to quality-check work performed.
• Accounts for all documents; ensures that all are present and processed correctly.
• Establishes customer follow-up program to confirm satisfaction with service experience.
• Ensures the proper care, storage, and inventory of special tools.
• Keeps abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommends purchases.
• Maintains a safe work environment.

BASIC SKILLS:

• Able to perform basic math (addition and subtraction).
• Able to problem-solve and/or troubleshoot situational challenges.
• Able to interpret oral and documented instruction.
• Exceptional mechanical skills and hand coordination, with minimal assistance needed.
• Being detail-oriented is a must.
• Critical thinking skills are required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Able to lift 75 pounds.
• Able to stand and walk for 2–3-hour intervals.
• Able to work in an environment with moderate to loud noise.
• Able to use hands and fingers for product handling.
• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, and tools.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent education required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Prefer experience in OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and EPA regulatory requirements.
• Excellent Computer, communication, and training skills.
• Prefer experience re-gearing vehicles.
• Experience with 4X4/off-road builds preferred.
• Professional toolbox and tools recommended.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 4 years minimum employment as an auto mechanic in a repair shop.
• Initial probationary week during which candidates’ skill sets are assessed.
• A background check will be conducted following a conditional offer of employment, in accordance with California law.
