The American Economic Association (AEA) is seeking an Editorial Assistant for its prestigious academic journals. This is an entry-level position.

The Editorial Assistant supports the editors of the AEA journals in managing the peer review process.

This is an on-site position in Pittsburgh, PA. Only those currently residing in or moving to Pittsburgh should apply. One day a week work-from-home is permitted at this time.

Vaccination for COVID-19 (including booster) is required.

Responsibilities

• Processing manuscript submissions using the Scholar One Manuscripts system.
• Working with authors to ensure that all required materials are in order.
• Preparing decision letters.
• Verifying and proofreading reference lists for accepted papers, formatting according to the Chicago Manual of Style and the AEA house style.

• Maintaining a database of accepted articles.
• Running plagiarism checks.

• Monitoring a general email account by answering emails directly or routing them to the appropriate staff member.

• Producing reports for the AEA administrative office and for the journal editors.

• Other duties as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Foreign language study a plus
• Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style a plus

The AEA Publications office is located on Pittsburgh’s South Side. It is a professional, relaxed, and collaborative atmosphere.

Pay: $33,000.00 – $35,000.00 per year
