Job Description

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Administrative Assistant IV [R0151276].

ROLE of the POSITION

The Department of Psychology seeks an experienced Administrative Assistant IV. The AAIV provides advanced-level administrative and operational support to the Department of Psychology and serves as a key liaison between faculty, staff, students, and the University, representing the department and its interests regarding scheduling, graduate application processes, and personnel issues. This position reports directly to the Department Chair and is responsible for overseeing critical academic and administrative functions, including supervision of staff, course scheduling, and the graduate application process. Responsibilities include yet not limited to, maintaining a Pcard, the department academic scheduling, academic course assignments, graduate application processes, issuance of the graduate assistantship, supervision of the Department AAII and AAIII, as well as the required annual evaluations, and other duties as assigned by the department chair, and/or faculty.

This position’s typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm. This is an on-campus ONLY position; there is NO REMOTE or FLEXIBLE WORK OPTION AVAILABLE.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Preferred Qualifications

1-3 years of Classified personnel supervision. Working knowledge of Rebel Gateway, MyUNLV and scheduling. Experience with academic scheduling systems and graduate admissions, and graduate assistantship processes. Familiarity with University policies and procedures. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

SALARY

Grade 29 Step 1, salary $50,153.76.

In accordance with Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) 284.170, initial appointments to classified positions typically begin at Step 1 of the assigned grade. A “Step” refers to the specific rate of pay within a grade, as determined by the Division of Human Resources.
