PeopleHub Partner, Employee Relations Full Time NEW

The PeopleHub Partner, Employee Relations (PHP-ER) is responsible for engaging with employees and leaders at critical moments in the employee lifecycle to ensure an equitable, inclusive, and respectful experience consistent with Toast’s policies, values, and culture. As a central point of expertise for the PeopleHub, the PHP-ER must perform work with limited supervision, handle high-volume routine cases and highly sensitive employment situations with emotional intelligence, and understand the unique operational needs across different departments.

A day in the life (Responsibilities):

• Lead routine workplace investigations (D/H/R), code of conduct violations, and sensitive compliance matters with impartiality and confidentiality.
• Manage high-risk conflict resolution and formal complaints by facilitating productive conversations and outcomes.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on HR policies, providing recommendations on policy deviations and exceptions in consultation with the ER Center of Excellence (COE).
• Provide ER expertise on complex medical accommodations and formal workplace concern escalations from Individual Contributors (ICs).
• Partner closely with the broader PeopleHub Partner team to provide managers with a holistic consultative service, bridging the gap between “Performance” (skill) and “Conduct” (will).
• Analyze case trends and compliance data to identify systemic risks and provide actionable recommendations to HRBPs and the business.
• Partner with Legal, the ER COE, and the broader People team on high-stakes escalations and post-investigation coaching.
• Identify opportunities to improve ER tools, such as HR Acuity and AI bots/workflows, while staying abreast of industry best practices.

Would you’ll need to thrive (Requirements):

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of related experience, or a Master’s degree and 2+ years of related experience; or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading a wide variety of complex workplace investigations and providing ER consultations with limited supervision.
• Proven ability to support diverse teams in a matrixed environment, adapting ER strategies to meet the needs of different business units.
• Strong experience navigating labor relations situations and coaching managers through challenging employment cycles.
• Solid understanding of U.S. employment law, statutory requirements, and HR practices.
• Ability to identify “around the corner” risks and translate data into meaningful workplace insights.
• Excited about the future of AI and curious about integrating AI-driven solutions to enhance efficiency within the PeopleHub.

• Professional in Human Resources (PHR), SHRM-CP, or equivalent.
• Success in partnering with and influencing leadership without direct authority.
• Experience supporting leaders across a global, high-growth organization.

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills, experience, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.
