The Role

Beauty 4U, a premier beauty retailer with 12 stores across the DMV area, is making a clear shift from the traditional beauty supply model to a true beauty sanctuary. We are looking for a foundational leader to join us at this pivotal moment. This isn’t just a role; it is a blank canvas for a builder. You will work in lockstep with the CEO to architect the retail strategy, establish our “Gold Star” playbook, and transform our regional footprint into the definitive prestige destination for hair and beauty.

The Head of Retail is a Results-Oriented and Entrepreneurial executive responsible for the total health of our retail ecosystem. You will balance high-level strategic planning—such as developing KPIs and consumer insight programs—with rigorous, active field leadership and operational execution.

Crucially, you are a leader who knows how to “win the hearts of store managers and section managers.” You must exemplify the ability to lead and collaborate in a vibrant, multi-cultural environment. By building these deep internal relationships, you will foster the collaboration and alignment necessary to drive success across all locations.

Key Responsibilities

• New Store Openings & Expansion: Responsible for the end-to-end process of opening new locations. This includes overseeing construction, planning, building, and comprehensive project management to ensure store launches are on time and brand-aligned.
• Sales Performance & Strategy (Priority #1): You are primarily responsible for ensuring all regional sales targets are met. You must actively propose and execute strategic actions (promotions, events, staffing adjustments, or inventory shifts) to consistently beat financial targets.
• Cultural Leadership & Buy-In: Act as the bridge between corporate strategy and store-level execution. You will foster a culture of mutual respect and collaboration across diverse teams to ensure total alignment with the brand vision.
• Strategic Build & Infrastructure: Partner directly with the CEO to establish all retail KPIs and performance benchmarks. Review and refine incentive plans to drive an ownership mindset and high-performance culture.
• The Retail Playbook: Develop, document, and deploy the official Beauty 4U Retail Playbook, ensuring every Image Architect and Manager executes the brand vision impeccably.
• Consumer Insights & Growth: Analyze in-store data and client feedback to provide actionable consumer insights to increase traffic and maximize sales conversion in every location.
• Merchandising Execution: Lead the execution of all in-store product merchandising. Ensure every shelf and “Beauty Edit” follows corporate guidelines and maintains our prestige aesthetic.
• Operational & Sanctuary Maintenance: Oversee all store operations, including maintenance, staffing levels, and facility standards to ensure our sanctuaries remain functional, inviting, and impeccable environments.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: 5–8 years of multi-unit retail leadership (District or Regional level) with a proven track record of hitting and exceeding aggressive sales goals.
• Cultural Competence: Proven ability to lead in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual environment; a leader who prioritizes relationship-building and internal buy-in.
• Pedigree: Leadership background at a top-tier brand (e.g., Sephora, Ulta, Sally Beauty, or a leading fashion house).
• The “Builder” Mindset: A proven ability to create processes where none exist. You are motivated by the challenge of a large-scale brand revitalization.
• Hard Worker: A “roll-up-your-sleeves” mentality; you are equally comfortable analyzing a P&L as you are troubleshooting a maintenance issue on the floor.
• Location: Must reside in the DMV area and be willing to be a frequent, visible presence in our stores.
