Vice President, Manufacturing Excellence
Position Overview
The Vice President, Manufacturing Excellence is responsible for leading continuous improvement, operational performance, and best-practice execution across the company’s manufacturing network. This executive role focuses on productivity, quality, cost efficiency, process optimization, and scalable plant performance. The position works closely with operations leadership to strengthen manufacturing capabilities and support long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Excellence Strategy
Develop and implement manufacturing excellence strategies aligned with company goals
Establish performance standards across plants, sites, or production facilities
Build roadmaps for productivity improvement and operational efficiency
Promote world-class manufacturing principles across the organization
Continuous Improvement
Lead lean manufacturing, process improvement, and operational excellence initiatives
Identify waste reduction and efficiency opportunities across production lines
Improve throughput, cycle times, and resource utilization
Standardize best practices across multiple facilities
Quality & Performance Optimization
Partner with quality teams to improve product consistency and process reliability
Monitor KPIs such as yield, downtime, scrap, OEE, and labor productivity
Drive root-cause problem solving and corrective action programs
Improve plant performance through data-driven decision-making
Cost Management
Support cost reduction initiatives across labor, materials, and operations
Improve asset utilization and maintenance efficiency
Optimize manufacturing processes to enhance profitability
Contribute to annual productivity savings targets
Technology & Systems Improvement
Support implementation of automation, digital tools, and smart manufacturing systems
Improve reporting visibility through dashboards and plant analytics
Standardize operational systems and performance measurement tools
Encourage innovation in manufacturing methods and workflows
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with supply chain, engineering, maintenance, quality, and finance teams
Support product launches and production readiness initiatives
Align factory priorities with commercial demand and business strategy
Share best practices across global or regional sites
Team Leadership
Lead manufacturing excellence, continuous improvement, or plant performance teams
Develop operational leaders and future talent pipelines
Build a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
Mentor plant leaders and functional managers
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or related field
10+ years of experience in manufacturing, plant operations, or operational excellence leadership
Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement systems
Experience managing multi-site or large-scale manufacturing environments
Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Preferred Qualifications
MBA or advanced technical degree preferred
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent preferred
Experience in consumer goods, industrial, automotive, electronics, or heavy manufacturing sectors
Background in automation or digital manufacturing transformation
