Minimum And Additional Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, wildlife management or related technical area.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong boating skills and experience, as well as a boater safety course certification. Knowledge of South Carolina’s fish, wildlife, and marine species, including their habits, habitats and natural requirements. Ability to direct fish, wildlife or marine resources management or research projects. Ability to direct subordinate personnel engaged in wildlife management or research projects. Ability to utilize computers and microscopes; collate biological, telemetry, and water quality data; and record data legibly. These abilities would normally be acquired through college education with a degree in marine biology or related field and/or work experience. Applicant should be a competent swimmer and comfortable in and around water under all varieties of weather conditions. Applicant must have the ability to lift heavy objects including pulling heavy nets, gear, and equipment, and lifting large animals regularly.
