About the Role

The Sr Manager, Co-Manufacturing Operations is responsible for developing and managing the company’s external manufacturing network, including packaging and ingredient vendors, to ensure reliable, cost-effective, and scalable production.

This role leads the sourcing, negotiation, and strategic management of co-manufacturing partners, ensuring the organization has the capacity, capabilities, and commercial agreements required to meet growth, innovation, and service objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Co-Manufacturing Strategy & Network Development

• Develop and maintain a global co-manufacturing strategy aligned with growth, cost targets, and geographic expansion
• Build and strategically manage supplier relationships, fostering long-term partnerships that support reliability, scalability, and cost optimization
• Identify, qualify, and onboard new co-manufacturing partners to support innovation, capacity expansion, and risk mitigation
• Lead negotiation of manufacturing, tolling, and supply agreements across co-packers, packaging, and ingredient vendors
• Ensure sufficient manufacturing capacity to meet forecasted demand
• Identify and mitigate risks including capacity constraints, supplier financial health, operational disruptions, and quality risks

Supplier Performance Governance

• Establish and manage co-packer scorecards across Cost, Cash, Quality, Service, Business Alignment, and Innovation
• Lead quarterly business reviews with all strategic co-manufacturing partners
• Drive accountability through structured performance management and corrective action plans

Product Quality & Compliance

• Partner closely with QA to ensure specification compliance and documentation integrity across all suppliers
• Support resolution of quality issues and ensure closure of all outstanding claims
• Maintain alignment with food safety, regulatory, and internal quality standards

Claims & Issue Management

• Document and track all supplier-related issues, quality deviations, and service failures
• Partner with QA to develop and implement corrective actions
• File and manage claims with suppliers and responsible parties
• Ensure timely resolution of claims within 30 days of occurrence
• Communicate supply risks and financial exposure to Supply Planning and Finance

Supplier Cross-Functional Coordination

• Lead weekly and monthly alignment meetings with suppliers to review production schedules, shipping plans, and container readiness
• Proactively identify and resolve supply disruptions and delays
• Communicate risks, delays, and impacts across Procurement, Supply Chain, and Finance

Financial Accountability & Cost Management

• Own annual cost negotiations and supplier productivity programs
• Drive conversion cost reduction initiatives across the co-manufacturing network
• Deliver against budgeted cost targets and margin improvement goals

Inventory & Network Management

• Oversee physical and ERP-based inventory movements across international and domestic 3PL networks
• Manage vendor-held inventory and ensure accurate reporting
• Identify and escalate risks related to aging or excess raw materials and finished goods

Systems & Process Management

• Ensure accuracy and integrity of ERP data across suppliers, purchase orders, and inventory
• Oversee timely placement of purchase orders and work orders
• Ensure accurate and timely invoice approvals
• Reconcile inventory and resolve discrepancies
• Maintain supplier and item master data within ERP systems

New Product Commercialization Support

• Partner with Supply Chain, Planning, R&D, QA, and Finance to enable successful product launches
• Ensure supplier readiness for new products including capacity, capability, and materials
• Maintain accurate BOMs by SKU and ensure change control processes are followed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; advanced degree preferred
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in co-manufacturing and/or operations
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
• Ability to travel to vendor sites, both domestic and international, as needed
