## JOB OVERVIEW

**GENERAL PURPOSE**
Under the general supervision of the Fleet Services Manager or designee, performs a variety of semi-skilled administrative and technical work requiring moderate responsibility and independent judgment.

## ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
Work with departmental staff to order, stock and maintain a variety of parts for county vehicles.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, law enforcement, other agencies, and the general public.
Purchase parts, materials, tools and related items for departmental use.
Ensure correct parts are stocked for seasonal work (e.g., lawn equipment, snow plow parts, etc.) keep appropriate size inventory of consumable parts on hand.
Collect and review price information from various vendors to ensure the best price while maintaining quality of parts.
Coordinate deliveries of ordered items with vendors based on mechanics need.
Pickup parts and deliver to other county facilities to reduce down time of vehicles.
Stock parts in inventory and ensure all pertinent information is in inventory management system.
Maintain inventory of essential parts and supplies, restocking as needed.
Maintain and reconcile computerized inventory; ensure parts/supplies are properly charged to shop work orders.
Assist in monthly and annual inventory counts.
Prepare reports and other specialized records for the inventory as required.
Report to assigned worksite with regular, predictable, and consistent attendance.
***Peripheral Duties***
Assist shop employees with repairs and other duties (e.g., change and repair tires, cleans vehicles and equipment, etc.)
Assist in moving vehicles for repair and deliver trucks to repair facilities.
Serve as a member of various committees as assigned.
Perform other duties as directed and assigned.
## MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
**MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
***Education and Experience***
High school diploma or GED required.
Specialized training in inventory management or vehicle repair preferred.
Two (2) years of work experience in an inventory management or auto/truck mechanic position required.
***Special Requirements***
Must have and maintain throughout employment a valid Driver’s License, as well as meet eligibility requirements of “acceptable driver standards” as defined by the County.
***Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities***
Working knowledge of equipment, materials and sup lies used in fleet vehicle maintenance and repairs
Working knowledge of computers and peripheral equipment
Working knowledge of applicable safety precautions
Ability to learn specialized inventory management software
Ability to perform basic mathematical computations including multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages
Ability to work under pressure and/or frequent interruptions
Ability to navigate stressful situations while maintaining composure
Ability to understand and follow exacting verbal and written instructions
Ability to prioritize work and carry out assigned projects to completion
Ability to perform tasks with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
Ability to communicate effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing
Ability to operate equipment including, but not limited to, multiline phone, computer and multifunction printer; Power tools used for minor vehicle maintenance and repair
