Construction Surveyor Full Time NEW

Central Contracting is accepting applications for a construction surveyor who holds licensing in WV and VA for site development, roadway, utility, and landfill projects throughout Virginia and West Virginia. This position will support construction layout, GPS machine control, and field surveying operations on active jobsites.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction staking and layout for heavy civil projects
• Operate GPS survey equipment, total stations, and data collectors
• Establish and maintain machine control systems for excavation and grading operations
• Perform slope staking, fine grading layout, and as-built surveys
• Read and interpret construction plans, CAD files, and grading models
• Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and equipment operators
• Prepare and manage as-builts using AutoCAD and related software
• Verify elevations, alignments, and site control throughout construction
• Travel to project sites throughout Virginia and West Virginia
• Overnight travel and extended stays on jobsites will be required

Qualifications

• Current Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license required
• Experience in heavy civil construction surveying required
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D
• Experience with GPS equipment and machine control systems
• Knowledge of grading, earthwork, utilities, and roadway construction
• Ability to perform slope staking and fine grading layout
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently in field environments
• Valid driver’s license required

Required Experience

• Topcon GPS systems
• Drone surveying and modeling experience
• Experience working with contractors and field crews
• Understanding of DOT and public works construction projects
