Pay: $37,440 annually ($18.00 per hour)

Reports to: Superintendent of Physical Plant

Hours:

• Monday-Friday; 3:00 p.m.-11:30 p.m. (when school is in session)
• Monday-Friday; 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. (when school is not in session)

Job Summary:

Performs routine maintenance of the campus buildings to keep them in top condition for full and productive use.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Participate in all custodial activities.
• Clean interior and exterior of buildings following daily and periodic schedules.
• Remove trash and recyclables.
• Move equipment and materials within and between school buildings, and occasionally off-campus.
• Assist in maintaining school buildings and grounds in top condition.
• Other duties as assigned by the Physical Plant Superintendent.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and understand chemical labels.
• Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets (MSDS).
• Ability to initiate and complete work orders.
• Work with others to achieve departmental goals.
• Assist in promoting the safety, health, and comfort of students and employees in buildings and grounds.
• Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects.
• Observe school policies at all times.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous custodial experience.
• Forklift certification.
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to drive school vehicles.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

• Ability to see and hear within normal parameters with or without correction.
• Full range of head, neck, and back movement; unrestricted ability to bend knees, raise arms above the head, and to move hands, fingers, and wrists.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds without difficulty.
• Ability to push and pull a cart up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders without difficulty.
• Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for sustained periods of time.
• May be exposed to dust, fumes, and odors.
• Occasional weekend work may be required.
• Must successfully pass fingerprint background check and provide TB clearance due to working in proximity to children.
