Field Technician – Underground Utilities / Directional Drilling
Directional Technology Solutions (DTS) – Columbus, OH
Directional Technology Solutions is actively hiring a Field Technician to support our growing underground utility and directional drilling operations throughout the Columbus, Ohio area. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, solving problems in the field, and being part of a fast-paced construction environment.

Responsibilities
- Review and interpret utility and construction prints
- Measure wheel footage and verify project distances on-site
- Assist with utility locating and field verification
- Document and report damages, incidents, and community concerns
- Support project managers with daily field coordination
- Maintain accurate job documentation and reporting
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, contractors, and utility representatives
- Ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Good communication and problem-solving abilities
- Construction, underground utility, or directional drilling experience preferred but not required
- Ability to lift equipment and walk job sites regularly
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in underground utility construction
- Familiarity with directional boring operations
- Basic understanding of utility prints and locating practices
