The Chief Health Information Officer (CHIO) holds operational responsibility for the optimized use of Health Information Technology (HIT) to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, quality, and safety of healthcare delivery. Serving as the clinical partner to the Chief Information Officer, the CHIO collaborates with IT leadership and enterprise stakeholders to provide strategic oversight of clinical information systems, including the electronic health record (EHR), system availability and usability, system modernization initiatives, and the curation, warehousing, governance, quality, and use of healthcare data.

Clinical Informatics – Operational and Applied Informatics: Clinical Informatics drives operational optimization and digital transformation across clinical workflows, specialty services, and enterprise platforms. The department leads Epic implementation and optimization, AI-enabled workflow innovation, care process standardization, revenue cycle support, and clinical communication modernization, while advancing patient-reported outcomes and informatics education. Clinical Informatics also engages in regional and national collaborations to influence governance, interoperability, and quality measurement.

As the executive leader of Clinical Informatics, the CHIO leads the integration of emerging digital and AI-enabled technologies to improve clinician productivity and effectiveness, expand patient access, support organizational financial performance, and drive enterprise-wide digital transformation.
